![]() I have no intentions of running it any faster than 4.7 CPU / 4.6 cache because it's just a backup rig. It was so stable at 4.8 that I wouldn't doubt that it would run a sketchy 4.9 to 5.0 with adequate cooling. It was also perfectly stable at 4.8 CPU / 4.6 cache, but heat was just too much for the small 240mm rad. ![]() To my surprise it runs all day long at 4.7 GHz with 1.297v with only two cores peaking in the mid 70's Celsius. I didn't expect much out of the 4790k because I've never had any interest in one. I just recently installed a 4790k into an backup computer along with a small water loop (240mm rad) to keep it cool. Most of them seem to hit at least 4.6GHz, with others being capable of 4.8 at a safe voltage (like mine), however there are always the shitty exceptions that overclock badly, and I've found that at 4.8GHz a 4790K throws out a fair bit of heat (though mine needs a delid as it runs a lot hotter at stock with my AIO than it should be, and far hotter than my i5 4440 which idles at ambient, not at a delta of 20 oC).
